Cheerleaders Make a Wish Come True
Through the Make-A-Wish Foundation, the Leake Academy Varsity and Junior Varsity Cheerleaders sponsored a little girl named Lea. Lea was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia, the most common form of childhood cancer. Her wish was to go Disney World and meet the princesses. During the cheerleaders' annual Christmas party, the girls decided to make Lea the guest of honor, surprising her with a Princess Party, complete with a crown, scepter and glass slippers. The cheerleaders announced to Lea that her wish had been granted: she was going to Disney World. The cheerleaders danced for Lea and served her lunch, topped off with strawberry shortcake.
Cari Taylor, media relations for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, was on hand to present the check to the Foundation on behalf of the cheerleaders. Ultimately, the girls raised $1,658.00. All money raised went toward Lea's trip, which is scheduled for  the spring. The cheerleaders showed the true meaning of Christmas through their generosity and compassion.
